The PSW Employment Readiness Program is an 8-week, skills-based training experience designed to support individuals who are preparing for entry-level roles in healthcare and community support settings.
This program focuses on building practical skills, strengthening workplace readiness, and developing professional communication. Participants are supported through guided learning and meaningful exposure to real care environments, helping them gain confidence and clarity before entering the workforce.
This is a non-certified training program and does not replace provincially regulated PSW education. Instead, it is designed to help learners prepare for future training or employment by building a strong foundation.
Program Objectives
By the end of the program, participants will be able to demonstrate essential support worker skills, communicate effectively in care settings, and understand professional boundaries and workplace expectations. Learners will also gain experience applying safe care practices under supervision and develop the confidence needed to transition into entry-level support roles.
Program Length
The program runs for a total of 8 weeks, with approximately 70–90 hours of combined learning.
This includes 45–55 hours of theory and skills training, along with 20–30 hours of supervised preceptorship in a supportive care environment.
Weekly Curriculum Overview
Throughout the program, participants will progress through structured weekly learning that builds knowledge, confidence, and readiness for real-world care settings.
